Meghan Markle is the 'real reason' William won't forgive Prince Harry

The royal rift between Prince William and Prince Harry shows little sign of healing, and experts claim Meghan Markle is at the centre of the ongoing tension.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Fox News that William’s “mistrust of Meghan” remains a major stumbling block. 

“William feels Harry has betrayed the Royal Family,” he explained, referencing the personal attacks in Harry’s memoir Spare. 

“Reconciliation is likely to be a tough call with the Prince of Wales. There are some things which are not forgotten.”

It has been five years since Harry and Meghan stepped back as senior royals and moved to California with their children, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, three. 

Despite brief UK visits, including the funeral of Lord Robert Fellowes in August 2024, the brothers reportedly kept their distance and did not speak.

Royal expert Hilary Fordwich echoed Fitzwilliams, saying the “persistent lack of trust” remains the main obstacle to reconciliation.

The feud may even complicate friendships, with reports that Hugh Grosvenor, Duke of Westminster, faces a “minefield” decision over whether to ask William or Harry to be godfather to his newborn daughter, Cosima.
