Before finding fame on Suits, Meghan Markle’s early days in Hollywood were far from glamorous.
A new biography recalls a disastrous audition where Meghan’s bold move left the room stunned.
In Meghan Misunderstood, biographer Sean Smith details how the aspiring actress, fresh out of college, was determined to break into the industry despite repeated rejections.
During one audition, after being asked to repeat a line, Meghan stunned the director by saying: “I can. However, I’ve read the script and I really respond to this other role and I’d like to audition for that.”
Smith wrote: “This was not how auditions worked. Panic spread across the room because who does that? Who takes that sort of risk?”
Meghan didn’t get the part she wanted but landed the role of “Hot Girl #1” in the Ashton Kutcher rom-com A Lot Like Love.
Though small, it gave her a crucial first step in Hollywood.
The experience eventually led to TV guest spots on CSI: NY and later her breakout role as Rachel Zane in Suits.
Now, years later, Meghan has gone from “Hot Girl #1” to hosting her own Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, with season two launching August 26.
