Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are bracing for a “horrid time” as explosive claims about their father, Prince Andrew, dominate headlines, according to new reports.
The storm follows the release of Andrew Lownie’s controversial book, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, which alleges money mismanagement, staff mistreatment and details of the Duke’s private life.
A family source told the Daily Mail the sisters are “utterly mortified” and are keeping their distance as they focus on their own families and careers.
“How much the relationship can recover will depend on what further revelations, if any, emerge,” the insider said.
Buckingham Palace has declined to comment, noting Andrew is no longer a working royal; the Duke’s team has also stayed silent.
Royal commentator Ingrid Seward, biographer of Sarah Ferguson, says the princesses’ low profile is strategic: “They’ll both find this very difficult, it’s a horrid time."
"But I’m not surprised they haven’t publicly defended him. Showing solidarity wouldn’t benefit them in any way.”
Beatrice and Eugenie have long been praised for maintaining a careful balance between private life and royal ties.
