Meghan Markle under fire for hijacking Christmas with Netflix holiday special

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s renewed Netflix partnership is already stirring controversy, and it’s their planned holiday special that’s lighting the fuse.

Speaking on her YouTube channel with commentator Rupert Bell, royal pundit Kinsey Schofield claimed the Sussexes are poised to “hijack the birth of Jesus Christ” to push product, saying the upcoming A Christmas Special with Meghan Markle will be “commercialised.”

Bell added he’s “not sure how Meghan is going to elevate Christmas,” predicting the episode will be “beautifully shot” and “schmaltzy.”

Schofield contrasted the project with the Royal Family’s faith-forward traditions, citing the Princess of Wales’ Together at Christmas carol service as a meaningful, community-focused event.

Netflix confirmed a new multi-year, first-look deal with Archewell Productions, though no dollar value was disclosed.

Alongside new projects, Meghan’s lifestyle series With Love, Meghan returns this month, with a festive standalone episode slated for December.

Critics argue the timing could clash with the Waleses’ annual carol concert, while supporters say a holiday special from the Sussexes is standard seasonal content.

Whether the episode leans cozy and charitable or tips into brand-building remains to be seen.
