Hollywood A-list celebrities Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt were a popular power couple in the late 1990s until they decided to call off their marriage in 2005.
The Emmy-winning actress’s divorce was a mutual decision with Pitt, but it has left a certain effect on Aniston.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, where she stars on the new September publication cover, The Morning Show actress spoke out about her five years of marriage.
Pitt and Aniston, who were introduced by their managers in 1994, secretly started dating in 1998 and got married in a lavish ceremony in July 2000.
However, they called their marriage off in 2005 and moved on with different partners. Now, Pitt is currently with jewellery designer Ines de Ramon, while Aniston is dating hypnotherapist Jim Curtis.
Fast forward to recent years, Aniston and Pitt have appeared to reunite and rekindle their friendship, delighting their fans with two reunions in 2020.
"I really do hope that someday we can be friends again," Aniston said to Vanity Fair during the conversation about their split. "I will love [Brad] for the rest of my life. He's a fantastic man. I don't regret any of it, and I'm not going to beat myself up about it."
Recalling the phase of her life following her breakup from Pitt, Aniston said that she kept telling herself, “Just pick yourself up by the bootstraps and keep on walking, girl.”
“It was such juicy reading for people. If they didn’t have their soap operas, they had their tabloids," the Friends alum said. “It’s a shame that it had to happen, but it happened. And boy, did I take it personally.”
Before this interview, in 2005, Aniston said in an interview that the divorce was “such a vulnerable time. But yeah, that was one for the memoirs."
