Meghan Markle pressured to speak as Prince Harrys Sentebale feud boils over

Meghan Markle is being pressed to speak out amid Prince Harry’s public spat with leadership at Sentebale, the charity he co-founded in 2006 after a gap year in Lesotho.

The Duke of Sussex stepped down as patron in March, backing trustees who resigned in protest against board chair Dr. Sophie Chandauka, who had previously accused him of bullying and harassment, claims the Charity Commission did not investigate individually.

In a sharply worded column, Dr. Max Pemberton questioned Meghan’s public silence, noting that her birthday post last week thanked “my husband” in passing but didn’t name Harry or reference the controversy.

“He is said to be devastated… What’s puzzling is that Meghan has remained silent,” he wrote, arguing that strong partnerships show visible support when one half is under fire.

The Charity Commission’s report, published last week, criticised all parties for letting the boardroom battle spill into the media, warning it risked public trust in the sector.

It found no evidence of systemic bullying, harassment, misogyny or misogynoir, while reiterating it does not adjudicate internal disputes or individual allegations.

Sentebale echoed that point, saying those claims “may be dealt with through avenues more appropriate than the commission.”

Harry’s camp insists his commitment to Southern Africa remains.

A spokesperson said “all options remain on the table”, from supporting existing NGOs to potentially launching a new entity. Co-founder Prince Seeiso also stepped down as patron in March.
