Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are staying in business with Netflix.
On August 11, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed they have renewed their creative partnership with the streaming giant through Archewell Productions, signing a new multi-year, first-look deal for film and television.
“We're proud to extend our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include the As ever brand,” Meghan, 44, said in a statement, adding, “My husband and I feel inspired by our partners… to create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally, and celebrates our shared vision.”
Alongside the renewal, Meghan announced that With Love, Meghan will return for a second season later this month, followed by a holiday special in December. The special promises “a magical holiday celebration” in Montecito, with friends, family, festive feasts, and “a generous dose of joy.”
Also on the slate is Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within, a documentary spotlighting an inspiring Ugandan orphanage, debuting later this year. And despite rumours, their much-talked-about adaptation of Carley Fortune’s bestselling romance Meet Me at the Lake remains in active development.
Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria praised the couple, calling them “influential voices whose stories resonate with audiences everywhere.”
Their 2022 series Harry & Meghan still holds the record as Netflix’s most-watched documentary debut. Still, speculation emerged earlier this month that Netflix will not be renewing its deal with the Sussexes.
