Prince William may be on holiday with Kate Middleton and their kids, but he still found time for a classy royal assist.
The Prince of Wales sent a personal message to Truro City Football Club ahead of their National League debut, congratulating the “Tinners” on becoming Cornwall’s first professional team.
In a note shared by the club on August 8, William, writing via his private secretary and signing as the Duke of Cornwall, praised captain Connor Riley-Lowe and the squad for their promotion and long-awaited return home.
“Good luck to the Tinners,” the letter closed, underlined for emphasis. Truro host York City in their historic home debut on Aug. 16.
It’s a big leap for Truro, who clinched promotion in April, and for Riley-Lowe, who juggled teaching with football until the step up.
The royal nod comes as no surprise: William is a lifelong football fan and FA president, with a soft spot for Aston Villa, a passion he’s passed to Prince George, 12.
The Wales family has kept a low profile since Trooping the Colour, minus sporty cameos: George and Princess Charlotte, 10, joined their parents at Wimbledon in July, and Charlotte flew with William to Switzerland to watch the Lionesses win UEFA Women’s EURO 2025.
