Prince William traded royal duties for a day of football as he visited Sporting Khalsa FC in Willenhall, West Midlands.

Just a day after attending the Commonwealth Day service in London, the Prince of Wales was in high spirits as he met with young aspiring referees and engaged in a hands-on training session.

The future king, known for his passion for football, made his way to the club to observe a referee training course designed to open doors for young people from diverse backgrounds.

As the patron of the Football Association (FA), William took time to speak with FA representatives and course trainers about the importance of making the sport more inclusive.

Dressed in a relaxed navy jacket, light shirt, and dark trousers, William watched as trainers demonstrated key refereeing techniques. He spoke with professional referee and British Army Lieutenant Levi Gray, gaining insight into the challenges and opportunities in the world of football officiating.

The program, which launched in July 2023, combines theory with practical skills to help new referees develop confidence on the pitch. Eager to get involved, William joined a training session, where he learned about whistle commands, flag signals, and the decision-making skills required to officiate a game.

Before wrapping up his visit, William is expected to step onto the pitch to try his hand at refereeing during a mini-football match with program participants.
