King Charless estate shuts for public as Meghans friends take over Heritage Live

Sandringham Estate in Norfolk will close to the public August 14–17 for the Heritage Live concert series, which features performances from Mariah Carey and Michael Bublé, both friends of Meghan Markle.

In a notice shared on Instagram and the estate website, Sandringham confirmed the full shutdown covers the Visitor Centre car parks, Courtyard café and restaurant, and play area. Normal visiting resumes August 18.

While the music takes over the 25,000-acre grounds owned by King Charles, don’t expect a royal sighting, His Majesty is due to spend late summer at Balmoral Castle.

The Scottish residence, which has welcomed visitors to its grounds and ballroom since April as part of a special exhibition, will close to the public on August 10.

It also briefly shut on August 4 due to Storm Floris.

The Sandringham gigs offer rare access to the estate’s sweeping lawns for concertgoers, though the King won’t be in residence.

Meanwhile, Mariah joked in a radio chat that she’d ask the monarch for “no tax, no congestion” at the show, then quickly added she’d rather “leave him alone.”
