Prince William won't promote Princess Beatrice to senior royal, expert explains

Princess Beatrice turns 37 today, but don’t expect a promotion to senior working royal anytime soon, at least not under Prince William, says former royal butler Grant Harrold.

Harrold, who served then-Prince Charles at Highgrove, told Fruity King that King Charles and Queen Camilla are close to Beatrice and Eugenie and will almost certainly mark Beatrice’s birthday privately. 

But when it comes to status, he doesn’t see Beatrice’s role changing in William’s reign.

The reasons being her career. Beatrice works as a strategist at tech firm Afiniti, and Harrold believes William is unlikely to formalize her role while she maintains a professional life outside The Firm.

Beatrice “steps up” when needed and is highly valued, Harrold notes, but William’s approach favours calling in trusted family support over expanding the full-time roster.

Beatrice is increasingly seen as a “secret weapon”, respected across the family, reliably low-drama, and, per Harrold, “very diplomatic” amid the William–Harry rift, keeping relationships with both brothers.
