Martha Stewart throws shade at Meghan Markle's lifestyle brand

Martha Stewart isn’t mincing words when it comes to Meghan Markle’s foray into the lifestyle space.

In a recent interview with Yahoo Australia, the domestic icon was asked how she feels about celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow and Meghan Markle following in her footsteps with their own lifestyle ventures. 

While Stewart had glowing praise for Paltrow, her remarks on the Duchess of Sussex struck a very different tone.

“I don’t mind, good luck!” Stewart said when asked about the growing wave of celebrity lifestyle entrepreneurs. 

“And Gwyneth’s been very successful, by the way. I think she’s created quite an interesting body of businesses, she’s admired, she won an Oscar, for heaven’s sake, as an actress! You know, she’s pretty powerful.”

“Meghan I don’t really know very well, and I hope she knows what she’s talking about,” Stewart said. 

“Authenticity to me is everything. And to be authentic and knowledgeable about your subject matter is extremely important.”

In a separate interview with Access Hollywood, she was asked if she had seen Meghan’s Netflix series With Love, Meghan. 

Her reply was blunt: “I haven’t watched it yet,” she said. “I’ll watch an episode and see how she does. I’m curious.”
