Pete Davidson acknowledged that he had been concerned about his soberness and the potential impact it would have on his career in an open interview this week.
The 31-year-old former Saturday Night Live star, who recently ended his silence regarding girlfriend Elsie Hewitt's pregnancy, discussed the subject during Tuesday's episode of The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.
In the course of his journey, the actor reportedly paid about $200k to have his tattoos removed and has been clean for almost a year.
The comedian merely responded, "Oh, yeah," when the talk show host asked Davidson if there had been a change in his performance since getting sober.
The father-to-be continued, “That’s what I was nervous about because I was like, maybe I’m not very good, or maybe I was so high, I thought I was good.”
But now that he's "weirdly sharper and more aware, so it's more fun," Davidson stated.
The Bodies Bodies Bodies star responded, "Yeah, when people laugh, you feel it as opposed to just sitting… so high, sitting there," after Fallon added, "Enjoying it more."
The star “has been sober since September, and gained twenty pounds,” according to a source who spoke to People earlier this year in January.
Although The Suicide Squad actor initially kept his relationship away from the spotlight, he stated that dating his new flame is very “different” from his past experiences.
