Top Boy star, who is well known for playing the role of Jamie on the hit show, has been charged with rape and sexual assault.
Michael Ward is also known for starring in movies like Blue Story and The Old Guard.
The actor is accused of offences against one woman in January 2023, the Metropolitan Police reported.
It has been reported that Michael is charged with two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault.
The 27-year-old will appear in Thames Magistrates’ Court on August 28.
Catherine Baccas, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London South announced in a statment that Michael has been charged with said counts and will appear in court on August 28.
Michael was awarded the Bafta rising star award in 2020. He later got nominated for a supporting actor award for his work in BBC’s Small Axe in 2021 and the 2022 film Empire of Light.
