Gracie Abrams, who confirmed her relationship with rumoured beau Paul Mescal, was called out by her fans for a bizarre move.
Although The 25-year-old finally made her romance with Paul official, the online update was met with an unexpected criticism.
Gracie was recently clicked with the 29-year-old actor, where the two lovingly embraced each other.
However, admirers did not like the singer posing with an un-lit cigarette in her mouth.
One X (formerly Twitter) user insisted: “Stop promoting smoking cigarettes as something cool and trendy.”
Another follower advised the Close to You hitmaker: “Girl u better not smoke with that voice.”
A third one quoted a lyric from one of Gracie’s song, which goes: “At least I’ll never turn to cigarettes/ My brother shielded me from all that/ He said that smoking was a killer.”
However, few netizens jumped in to defend her, questioning: “Where is she promoting that cigs are cool or trendy?”
This came after the couple reportedly marked their first anniversary of being together in June.
It is to be noted that the Irish actor has clearly stated in an interview to keep his dating life private: “I’m not comfortable inviting any access into that part of my life.”
