Controversial vocalist David Draiman received a not so warm welcome at the ‘Back To The Beginning‘ farewell concert for Black Sabbath.
He covered Ozzy Osbourne’s tracks Shot in the Dark as well as the band’s Sweet Leaf, joined by Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello.
Upon taking the stage, he was met with discouraging boos from the audience as well as explicit curses.
He was further joined by Jake E. Lee, Mike Bordin and Adam Wakeman as well as Anthrax‘s Scott Ian, Extreme‘s Nuno Bettencourt and ex-Megadeth bassist David Ellefson.
There was also a prerecorded message from Marilyn Manson where he paid tribute to Osbourne and the band.
Manson has faced countless sexual assault/misconduct claims which led to backlash, protests as well as the cancellation of his shows.
Draiman, on the other hand, has faced severe criticism for his political stance on conflicts taking place in the Middle East.
Even though he went on to backtrack by saying that he is “pro peace and coexistence between ALL PEOPLE,” people are still wary of the vocalist.
The concert was the first full reunion of the band in two decades, and the official end of Osbourne’s career.
