Black Sabbath member and music icon, Ozzy Osbourne has announced the end of his career with a final performance.
Fans of the group will come together at Birmingham's Villa Park on Saturday to see them reunite for the very first time in two decades.
It is being called the “greatest heavy metal show ever”, with Osbourne having formed the band with school friend and guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist and lyricist Geezer Butler, and drummer Bill Ward.
He explained, “It’s my final encore; it’s my chance to say thank you to my fans for always supporting me and being there for me. I couldn’t have done my final show anywhere else. I had to go back to the beginning.”
“Sabbath gave us the blueprint, Sabbath gave us the recipe. They gave us the cookbook, man,” said Corey Taylor from Slipknot in BBC Radio WM’s Forging Metal documentary.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting a reunion for the group ever since their last performance as a full band at the 2005 Ozzfest tour, after which Ward ended up leaving.
Their final tour ended in 2017 in Birmingham, however, Ward was not a part of the performances.
