Star Wars has announced a new film Starfighter and the production is expected to start in fall 2025.

As reported by TheDirect, the upcoming movie will feature Ryan Gosling as Jedi Knight training his 15-year-old nephew as his Padawan.

The story follows the duo on a dangerous mission pursued relentlessly by a pair of villains while navigating complicated family dynamics involving the Padawan’s mother and another prominent female character.

Earlier, the director of the film, Shawn Levy stated: “This is a standalone. It’s not a prequel, not a sequel. It’s a new adventure. It’s set in a period of time that we haven’t seen explored yet.”

While it remains a standalone film, Starfighter may include appearances from sequel-era characters, linking the narrative to the broader Star Wars timeline.

The film is written by acclaimed writer Jonathan Tropper who previously penned films like The Adam Project and Kodachrome.
