Will Smith chose the blue pill when it came to acting in films that would go on to become massive successes in the future.
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star revealed that he was disappointed by the fact that he declined Sir Christopher Nolan’s pitch for one of his iconic science-fiction films.
In a candid recollection, the Academy Award winner noted that he was offered the role played by Leonardo Di Caprio in Inception during an interview with radio station Kiss Xtra.
"I don't think I've ever even said it publicly before, and I'm gonna say it because we are opening up to one another: Chris Nolan brought me Inception first, and I didn't get it," Smith stated.
He went on to talk about another masterpiece, The Matrix, which was also offered to him before Keanu Reeves became the face of the franchise.
"Now that I think about it, it's those movies that go into those alternate realities — they don't pitch well," Smith said, offering an explanation for his snubs.
However, the 56-year-old confessed, "But I am hurt by [passing on] those two."
Notably, this was Smith’s first time talking about the time he almost worked with Nolan.
Yes, Will Smith’s comeback studio album Based on a True Story was labelled a “commercial flop” after it did not make it to the Billboard 200.
