Paramount Animation is taking a new turn in the animated film industry with a film based on Eat Poop: A Dung Beetle Story. Mark Pett is the author of this outstanding children’s story.
The film is being adapted by Oscar-winning director Josh Cooley, who is also in talks to helm the project.
Cooley is known for co-writing Inside Out and spending 17 years at Pixar, bringing credibility and emotional depth.
The story revolves around Dougie, a young dung beetle who hides his identity. The beetle hides his poop-filled lunch from his classmates until he's forced to decide whether to stand up for himself and others like him.
The film's central theme is self-acceptance. It will encourage young minds to embrace their true identity and celebrate being unapologetically yourself. The story is about pride, inclusion, and embracing what makes us different.
Ryan Reynolds' production company, Maximum Effort, is producing the film alongside lyricist Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who has written songs for acclaimed films like La La Land and The Greatest Showman.
