US President is expected to meet Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo.
The president is hosting Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman in the Oval Office on Tuesday at the Oval Office.
As per The Athletic, Ronaldo, who plays for the Saudi sports club Al-Nassr FC, will attend the event and meet the president for the first time.
The meeting is a part of a major diplomatic event as the prince will return to US for the first time in seven years.
The two leaders are expected to discuss the Abraham accords, international relations and mutual investment.
For the footballer, it will be his first high-profile appearance in the country in over a decade where the next football world cup is set to be played in 2026.
In a recent interview, Ronaldo expressed his admiration for Trump and said he would like to “have a long discussion about world peace” with him.
In June 2024, a Portuguese national team jersey signed by Ronaldo was presented to Trump which was written with the message “To President Donald J. Trump. Playing for peace”.
Next year, Ronaldo will play his 6th world cup for Portugal that is set to take place in US hoping that his final goodbye to FIFA can end on a high note.
