Harvey Weinstein’s retrial ended up reaching the same verdict that his previous trial in 2020 had reached, that he was guilty of sexual assault, but the case is not over yet.

The jury in the case could not reach a verdict for the film producer’s other charges, and was asked by the jury to continue deliberations.

The Untouchable actor was charged for the assault of Miriam Haley, while being acquitted for the same charge by another woman, Kaja Sokola.

The jury remained divided over his charge of third-degree rape, which was alleged by a victim by the name Jessica Mann.

Surprisingly enough, Weinstein pleaded to the judge to grant him a mistrial over the jury deliberations which had gotten heated, including threats and shouting.

The executive producer of Good Will Hunting told Judge Curtis Farber “This is my life that’s on the line. I am not getting a fair trial.”

Weinstein’s previous conviction was overturned after a majority in the New York Court of Appeals found that the he had been previously mis-tried, since there were some additional women who testified in court against the actor than legally permissible.

What has happened to Harvey Weinstein?

Harvey Weinstein has been imprisoned and is currently being held at Rikers Island in New York, serving a 16 year sentence for a different case in California.
