Ronald Bronstein, Josh Safdie win Best Editing for ‘Marty Supreme’

Ronald Bronstein and Josh Safdie have taken home the Best Editing award for Marty Supreme at the 50th Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards.

The announcement came on Sunday, December 7, alongside a slate of awards recognising standout films of 2025.

The pair are longtime collaborators, celebrated for their inventive approach to indie cinema.

Together, they co-wrote and co-edited Good Time (2017) and Uncut Gems (2019), creating a distinctive style that blends complex characters with emergent storytelling, often challenging conventional narrative structures.

Their work emphasizes authenticity, with an almost argumentative creative process that prioritizes character over plot convenience, often alongside Benny Safdie through their production company, Elara Pictures.

The duo collaborated on the recent film they received the award for.

Marty Supreme follows Timothée Chalamet as Marty Mauser, a hustling, arrogant, and talented young man in 1950s New York City.

A shoe salesman convinced that table tennis is his path to greatness, Marty dives into a chaotic world of schemes, rivalries, and self-inflicted mayhem, charming women and clashing with competitors like Koto Endo.

Directed by Safdie, the film channels a high-stakes, Uncut Gems-style energy, blending sports drama with darkly comic moments.

Bronstein and Safdie’s award-winning editing captures the manic pace and tension of Marty’s journey, cementing their reputation as masters of edgy, character-driven storytelling.
