Lil Durk is levelling up in his quest to get out of prison before his upcoming trial.
The rapper’s trial was initially scheduled for January 7, 2025, but due to legal complications, it was rescheduled for October 14.
The Chicago native and his legal team have been doing everything they can to secure his release, even making hefty bond requests.
They recently offered another bond package, including $700,000 in real estate equity, $1 million in cash from Alamo Records and $1 million from a business associate.
Durk’s lawyers are now questioning the information provided by an alleged paid informant for the FBI.
Attorney Drew Findling argues that the prosecutors are leaning heavily “on information from a cooperating human source, ‘CHS 1,’ described in the affidavit as a paid FBI informant and former gang member with a criminal history.”
Findling asserted that prosecutors have also been unable to prove that his client is a risk to public safety.
The defence further claimed that their bond offer is sufficient and that Durk would be placed under 24-hour surveillance, which would eliminate potential risks.
Lil Durk was arrested in October 2024 with his Only the Family (OTF) affiliates for allegedly ordering a hit on his rival Quando Rondo in 2022, which resulted in the death of Saviay’a "Lul Pabb" Robinson.
It is believed that the shooting was in retaliation for the death of 26-year-old King Von in November 2020.
The 32-year-old was charged with conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire and committing murder-for-hire involving a death.
