Lil Durk’s woes continue to get worse despite his best efforts.

The rapper was arrested in October 2024 with his Only the Family (OTF) affiliates for allegedly ordering a hit on his rival Quando Rondo in 2022, which resulted in the death of Saviay’a "Lul Pabb" Robinson.

It is believed that the shooting was in retaliation for the death of 26-year-old King Von in November 2020.

The 32-year-old was charged with conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire and committing murder-for-hire involving a death.

Durk's trial was initially scheduled for January 7, 2025 but due to legal complications, it was rescheduled for October 14 later this year.

The Chicago native and his legal team have been doing everything they can to secure his bail, even making hefty bond requests.

They recently offered another bond package to eliminate potential risk, including $700,000 in real estate equity, $1 million in cash from Alamo Records and $1 million from a business associate.

On May 8, Magistrate Judge Patricia Donahue denied his bond request due to public safety concerns.

According to All Hip Hop, the Viral Moment singer had another opportunity to secure his release from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles.

Durk’s lawyer, Christy O’Connor, challenged the magistrate’s ruling on May 14 and asked for a hearing before a district judge.

The request was granted, resulting in a hearing before Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald of the United States District Court for the Central District of California, scheduled for June 2.

However, the same outlet reported on May 19 that the prosecutors have objected to the ruling, citing that the artist is not being tried for his lyrics but for a serious offence.

“[Lil Durk] is not on trial for his lyrics or his music; he is on trial because he directed, orchestrated, and financed the brazen murder plot at issue in this case,” U.S. Attorney Bilal A. Essayli argued.

In a detention hearing back in December, prosecutors claimed that Durk referenced Lul Pabb’s murder in the track Wonderful Wayne & Jackie Boy by Babyface Ray which also featured Durk.

His legal team argued that the government misled the court by presenting the song’s lyrics as evidence.

Attorney Drew Findling submitted an affidavit from the producer of the song, which confirmed that it was composed seven months before the murder-for-hire shooting.

What is Only the Family (OTF)?

Hip hop group Only the Family, aka OTF, was formed in Chicago in 2010 by Lil Durk along with King Von.
