The high-profile trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs is in full swing, with the first two weeks seeing horrifying testimonies from Casandra Ventura, better known as Cassie, Dawn Richard and Kid Cudi.

The music mogul’s lawyers are pulling out all the stops to sway the jury in their client’s favour and are filing a motion to have a forensic psychologist’s testimony dismissed.

The forensic expert in question is Dr. Dawn Hughes, who served as a witness in the Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard defamation trial.

Diddy’s legal team previously filed a motion in federal court to prevent Hughes from testifying.

The prosecutors recently called the psychologist to testify as a “blind expert” to provide insights into trauma, memory and abuse dynamics.

She was not allowed to examine any of the alleged victims and what may have led Diddy to perform the acts he is accused of doing.

However, the defence objects to the testimony, claiming it uses banned terms with an accusatory tone to influence the jury.

“The government chose to put on an expert witness knowing that the testimony it elicited would violate the Court’s ruling—knowing that if it and its witness pushed hard enough, the defense would not be able to keep out all of the improper and unfairly prejudicial testimony,” attorney Alexandra A.E. Shapiro said.

Shapiro is aiming for the court to completely disregard Hughes’ testimony, which they labelled as “junk science.”

What are the charges against Sean “Diddy” Combs?

Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested and indicted in the Southern District of New York on September 16, 2024, on charges of racketeering, sex trafficking by force and transportation for purposes of prostitution.
