Sean “Diddy” Combs is pulling out all the stops in his much-awaited legal battle.
Diddy’s legal team has filed a motion in federal court to prevent a forensic psychologist from testifying.
The forensic expert in question is Dr Dawn Hughes, who served as a witness in the Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard defamation trial.
In the court filings obtained by AllHipHop, Hughes, who specialises in intimate partner violence, intends to speak on patterns of behaviour of alleged abusers to control their victims.
However, Diddy’s attorney, Alexandra Shapiro, stated that Hughes had no interaction with the alleged victims which would result in her giving “unadorned opinions.”
The legal team also accused Hughes of giving the same testimonies in various trials and requested the court to completely block her from taking the stand.
Shapiro further claimed that the psychologist would likely draw a negative image of Diddy, ultimately swaying the jurors' opinion and that the prosecutors are bringing Hughes for the same reasons.
Last year, Diddy was charged with transportation to engage in prostitution, racketeering and sex trafficking. The 55-year-old is set to stand trial on May 5.
