10 Things I Hate About You director Gil Junger sat down for an interview with People where he opened up about the Broadway musical adaptation of the classic film.
Despite not being directly involved in the project, he said that he is "so excited".
"It's funny because years ago, I was offered [the opportunity to direct a stage production]," he explained. "That was brought up to me a couple of times over the last 15 years. And I always said, 'Look, if you get your financing together, I'm down.' And they never got back to me."
The adaptation will be choreographed and directed by Christopher Wheeldon, from a book by Lena Dunham, with Carly Rae Jepsen being one of the co-writers for the score.
"I'm so excited to see what Lena does with this," the 70 year old added. "She's just so incredibly talented. She has that voice."
“As soon as Cameron, a newbie at Padua High School, finds Bianca, he falls in love with her. However, to date Bianca, he must first get her older sister Kate, a mean feminist, to date someone,” reads the synopsis of the original flick that came out in 1999.
