Ed Harris speaks up after feeling deceived over ‘Dutton Ranch’ role

Ed Harris finally revealed why he decided to quit Taylor Sheridan’s new show Dutton Ranch after shooting the first season.

The actor, who plays Everett McKinney in Yellowstone spin-off show, shared he asked his team to get him out of the show.

Dishing out the reason, Harris, who’s locked in for two seasons, admitted he felt “misled” about his role in the series given he was informed by the production that he would be one of the main characters.

“Prior to signing on for it, I was talked to quite a bit about what the season was, and what my character was going to do and that I was one of the four main characters,” he told Variety.

However, that didn’t happen, explaining that he felt “underused and inconsequential” while filming season one.

Later, The Abyss actor mentioned, “I’m being told my character will have a little bit more to do [in Season 2].”

But Harris pointed out he “was just a little frustrated” after he wrapped up first season.

Eventually, the Top Gun: Maverick actor watched the first few episodes of Dutton Ranch, and he thought “it was pretty good”.

Harris noted that his character was “relatively important to the story,” but during filming, “it didn’t feel that way”.

Meanwhile, the actor added that he was left “really pissed off” after a singing scene he shot was cut from the final edit, which at the time he felt was “enough reason to say I’m voiding my contract”.
