Meghan Markle has raised eyebrows after reportedly using her 'HRH' title, a move that goes against the agreement made with the late Queen Elizabeth II during the Sussexes’ royal exit.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, sent a gift basket to podcast host Jamie Kern Lima, with a card that read: "With the compliments of HRH, Duchess of Sussex."

The gesture came during Meghan’s first-ever podcast interview on The Jamie Kern Lima Show, where she opened up about her children, her new brand American Riviera Orchard, and her life post-royalty.

But the use of "HRH" has reignited controversy.

Under the terms of the so-called Sandringham Summit, the crisis meeting held in January 2020, it was agreed that Prince Harry and Meghan would no longer actively use their "His/Her Royal Highness" titles after stepping back as senior working royals.

While technically they retained the titles, the deal was clear: they would not use them in any official capacity moving forward.

At the summit, Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince Harry worked out the terms of Harry and Meghan’s royal departure.

Meghan, who was in Canada at the time, reportedly dialled in remotely.

Why can Prince Harry, Meghan Markle not use 'HRH' title?

The late Queen had issued a statement at the time supporting the Sussexes’ desire for a more independent life but emphasized that stepping away from royal duties would mean giving up certain privileges, including using "HRH" publicly.

Along with dropping the titles, the Sussexes agreed to renounce public funding, withdraw from the Royal Rota media system, and relinquish Harry’s military appointments.

Meghan’s casual use of the "HRH" moniker on a public gift is raising fresh questions about whether the Sussexes are blurring the lines between royal life and private ventures.
