Prince Harry is “in crisis” and desperately “clinging on” to his royal identity as he and Meghan Markle remain caught in a “trap” in California, according to a bomshell claim by royal biographer Tom Bower.

In his forthcoming book, Bower paints a bleak picture of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s post-royal life, alleging that while Meghan dreams of billionaire status and global celebrity, Harry feels out of place and adrift.

“They have a crisis,” Bower writes, according to The Mirror. “Meghan wants to be a billionaire celebrity and Harry doesn’t understand that world — except to know Meghan wants to be famous.”

The author, known for his unauthorized celebrity exposés, claims that Meghan still hasn't reached the elite status she craves, while Harry continues to struggle with his identity outside of the royal fold.

“He’s stuck in California, clinging on to his royal status — as is she,” Bower claims.

In a major revelation, Bower says Harry is now considering a reconciliation with the Royal Family, a move he describes as “totally unrealistic.”

“There is zero chance of reconciliation,” Bower writes. “There is irreconcilable anger on the part of William and Kate.”

How does Prince Harry feel about his life in the US?

Despite the tension, Harry has previously spoken about his love for life in the US, where he and Meghan raise their two children, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, in a lavish Montecito mansion.

During a 2023 appearance at The New York Times DealBook Online Summit, Harry reflected: “I very much enjoy living here and bringing my kids up here… I feel as though it’s the life my mum wanted for me. It’s a fantastic opportunity and I’m hugely grateful.”
