Britney Spears has already been making headlines with her risky style choices, but now it is her song choice that has caused a stir.
The 43-year-old posted a video of herself after a shopping spree from her vacation in Mexico, with the 2009 hit Carry Out by Justin Timberlake playing in the background.
The now-deleted Instagram clip alarmed netizens, as it has been only two years since Britney had accused the NSYNC bandmate of forcing her to get an abortion.
The “Princess of Pop” could be seen sporting a bright yellow shirt paired with white shorts and tan heels in the reel, as she strolled down a narrow street before stopping to pose with a motorcycle parked nearby.
She deleted the clip soon after it was posted, leaving people confused about her relationship with the Friends With Benefits star.
Britney had been romantically linked to Justin from 1999 to 2002, with the duo’s split garnering a tonne of media attention, since the latter reportedly ended their relationship over text.
The Baby One More Time songstress was heavily impacted by the situation and disclosed jaw-dropping details of their relationship in her 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me.
Britney revealed that Justin, 44, had urged her to get an abortion after her teen pregnancy at nineteen. It was "one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life,” she noted.
The mother-of-two had gone on to detail that if it were up to her, she “never would have done it” but took the step to respect Justin’s wishes.
Justin Timberlake’s song Cry Me A River is rumoured to have been inspired by his relationship with the Crazy singer. The hit was featured in his solo debut album Justified, after he parted ways with NSYNC.
