Mariah Carey, known as the "Songbird Supreme", got candid about the time when she released her album The Emancipation of Mimi.
The 56-year-old songstress was “annoyed” when her classic album was labelled a “comeback” by music lovers, as dished by People.
Mariah reminisced about the time she was not ready to call the 10th studio record her return to music career because: “how many comebacks do I have to have?”
With the passage of time, the five-time Grammy winner accepted the description, calling it “somewhat accurate.”
The legendary musician disclosed that the “very special” tracks, which turned 20 on April 12, are not well-known. She believes “people can discover various songs and kind of get to know the feeling of that album.”
In an episode of Footnotes, the All I Want for Christmas Is You hitmaker opened up about the process of creating one of the songs We Belong Together with Jermaine Dupri. The video was a continuation of the love triangle introduced in It’s Like That.
The Yes, and? crooner was “excited to be able to tell a story that spanned over two music videos,” by bringing two “sonically different” melodies together.
