With their perfect hairdos and glowing skin, the ladies of the British royal family are rarely seen looking less than perfect.
They may be queens and princesses but they’re also just human and have mastered some skincare and beauty hacks that help them achieve that royal glow. Luckily for us, these don’t require you to live in a palace or have a tiara on!
Read on for the best kept royal beauty secrets.
Keep It Simple
For Kate Middleton, the best beauty mantra is keeping it simple. The Princess of Wales reportedly even applied her own makeup on her big day!
Kate believes in not overdoing it when it comes to her makeup, and so, for her 2011 wedding to Prince William, with help from Bobbi Brown makeup artist Hannah Martin, she relied on just three neutral eye shadows to pull her look together.
To get the same look, all you need are any three basic neutral shades to go on your eyes; any ivory shade all over, a cool-toned brown in the crease, and a shimmery neutral on the lower lid to get the perfect natural eye look.
Facial Exercise
Hollywood swears by facial exercises, and so, it’s no wonder that Meghan Markle has long been a fan of them!
Long before she met her prince charming in Prince Harry, the Duchess of Sussex told Birchbox in 2014, “I do facial exercises from one of my favourite aestheticians, Nicola Joss, who basically has you sculpt your face from the inside out. I swear it works, as silly as you may feel. On the days I do it, my cheekbones and jawline are way more sculpted."

Classic Nudes
Sticking to nudes seems to be a favourite for the royals, be it makeup or even nails!
The late Queen Elizabeth famously sported a sheer pink nail colour on her nails since the 80s, with other royal ladies taking inspo from her and keeping their nails natural and nude a majority of times.
Psst… as per Good Housekeeping, the Queen loved Essie’s Ballet Slippers!
Cheat Sleep!
When you’re out and about even at odd times like midnight or dawn, you must crack the code to looking awake and perky and so the royals have done just that!
Meghan revealed her secret to cheating sleep; a good eyelash curler to open up your eyes, and strategic use of a highlighter to brighten them up!
Talking to Birchbox, the Duchess of Sussex once shared about using an eyelash curler, “Even if you don't have a stitch of makeup on, you suddenly look a bit more alive."
She also shared, “To open up your eyes, apply a highlighter like Yves Saint Laurent’s Touche Éclat in the inner corner. This trick was especially good when we were filming at 3 a.m. and I needed to look bright eyed and bushy tailed.”
Natural Finish
We don’t think we’ve ever seen a royal lady with a full beat, and sometimes, less really is more!
Turns out, the likely secret behind Kate Middleton’s natural flush and Meghan Markle’s glow is keeping it as natural as possible when it comes to their skin makeup.
According to Meghan, keeping a light hand on foundation is a great idea, telling Birchbox, “Only apply foundation to the spots you need it. I never want to cover my freckles, so we just do a ‘wash’ of foundation in certain sections instead of over the entire face.”
She also recommends using a nice, light finishing powder to set the minimal foundation instead of techniques like baking.
