For all of the British royal family’s sophistication and elegance, they enjoy getting in the kitchen and getting their grub on.

From curries to pastas and even the occasional burger, the royal family seems to have taste buds similar to those of us less cultured than them, just in fancy palaces!

Get ready to dine like royalty, with this line-up of a few dishes famous within the royal family, from Kate Middleton’s favourite curry to Meghan Markle’s indulgent pasta favourite.

Kate Middleton’s coconut lentil curry

As pre 9Kitchen, one of Kate Middleton’s ultimate favourites is a lentil curry, a love affair she picked up during her visit to India, as per Chef Raghu Deora, who served Kate and Prince William during their tour to India.

In fact, curry is also a takeout favourite for Kate and William, they revealed in a Radio 1 interview back in 2017.

When asked if they ever ordered takeaway, Kate responded, “Absolutely and curry—definitely!”

Kate also shared in 2019 that she also whips up a mean curry for her family: spicy for herself and daughter Charlotte, while medium for William, and no spice for Princes George and Louis!

Meghan Markle’s zucchini pasta

Meghan Markle once described her zucchini pasta recipe as ‘low-carb, sexy, filthy’, and we think that says enough!

The Duchess of Sussex shared this favourite of hers on her lifestyle blog The Tig, before she entered the royal fold, and while her four-ingredient recipe takes a bit of time, you won’t regret it once it’s done!

Meghan’s zucchini pasta recipe involves slow-cooking the zucchini for about five hours until its melted and makes a creamy sauce for the pasta.

As per Meghan, “The sauce gets so creamy, you'd swear there's tons of butter and oil in it, but it's just zucchini, water and a little bouillon.”

King Charles’ pheasant pie

A more sophisticated pick but alas, Charles is King!

For his 70th birthday, King Charles shared that his favourite meal of all time is a mean pheasant pie, which he only enjoys on special occasions!

As per 9Kitchen, Charles enjoys his pheasant pie when it’s cooked a certain way; by poaching the pheasant before coating in a rich gravy, and paired with a parmesan-bacon crumble.

The recipe famously takes some time to prepare and thus, is reserved for very special times in Charles’ life.

Queen Camilla’s baked beans on toast, fish and chips

In contrast to her husband, Queen Camilla’s favourite meals are perhaps the simplest on this list!

In a joint interview with her son and food critic Tom Parker Bowles, Camilla shared that she loves the ‘simplicity’ of baked beans on toast; the beans being Heinz.

Queen Camilla also enjoys the classic British favourite, fish and chips in paper. In the same interview she was quoted saying, “That smell. You cannot beat proper fish and chips!”

Prince William’s roast chicken

Prince William enjoys the classic roast chicken, with his wife Kate Middleton routinely indulging his love for it.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl told Vanity Fair in 2012, “In the evenings she (Kate) indulges her hobby of cooking William's favourite supper, roast chicken.”

However, William also enjoys the simpler treats, like takeaway curry and even fish and chips with his wife!
