In one particularly emotional chapter, Harry describes a tense reunion with his father and brother following the funeral of Prince Philip in April 2021.
The Duke of Sussex had flown back to the UK just weeks after his and Meghan Markle’s bombshell Oprah interview, and emotions were already running high.
During a private meeting at Windsor Castle, Harry recalls the three royals arguing — to the point where King Charles reportedly pleaded,
"Please, boys – don’t make my final years a misery."
It was during this moment that Harry claims to have seen his brother in a new light. He writes: "His familiar scowl, which had always been his default in dealings with me."
That brutal observation — just 13 words — cuts deep, highlighting years of unresolved tension. He continues: "His alarming baldness, more advanced than my own; his famous resemblance to Mummy, which was fading with time. With age."
"In some ways he was my mirror, in some ways he was my opposite. My beloved brother, my arch nemesis — how had that happened?"
Their lack of communication was evident when Harry returned to the UK in 2023 for the funeral of their uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, Princess Diana’s brother-in-law.
According to sources who attended the service, Harry and William didn’t speak a single word to each other.
