Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s June wedding will not be affecting Venice, at least not the way the masses expect.
The duo’s extravagant marriage ceremony will not cause disruptions in the ‘floating city’, as assured by the city’s mayor, Luigi Brugnaro.
Luigi responded to many netizens and natives' concerns that the pair’s booking of an extensive amount of water taxis, hotels and gondolas for their star-studded wedding is nothing out of the ordinary.
“The many speculations and fake news circulating about Jeff Bezos’ wedding are completely unfounded. Venice is used to being the stage for events and shows every week, without significant impacts, “the mayor noted in a statement obtained by People.
He eradicated all doubts about the city’s preservation, assuring people that “the event will be absolutely respectful of the fragility and uniqueness of the city.”
Luigi, who took office in 2015, reminded residents that Venice has hosted events like the Architecture and Cinema Biennales, along with the G20 and G7 summits.
The 63-year-old also noted that Amazon founder, Jeff, and American journalist Lauren’s 200 people guest list could easily be accommodated in Venice.
Notably, the 61-year-old popped the question to the 55-year-old in the South of France in May of 2023.
