Meghan Markle’s new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, continues to face backlash—this time from one of her former friends.

Nick Ede, a pop culture expert who was once friends with Meghan, has slammed her eight-part lifestyle series, claiming that it lacks substance and talks down to viewers.

Speaking on the A Right Royal Podcast, Ede, who knew Meghan during her Suits days, said he found nothing appealing about the show’s content.

"I always look at everything I do…saying to myself, ‘Do you care?’ And the first thing I did when I watched it was say, ‘No, I don’t care,’" Ede admitted.

"There was nothing about it that I cared for."

He further criticized the way the show presents its content, calling it overly simplistic and condescending.

"I didn’t care about the way I felt I was being almost patronized. I didn’t care for the way that the guests were treated. I didn’t really care about the takeaway tips—I felt they were all pretty patronizing," he continued.

Ede pointed to one specific example that he found particularly frustrating.

"Especially the one about wrapping a present and using the side to make sure the edges are sharp. That kind of thing is so basic I felt almost patronized by Netflix for actually making me endure this for quite a few hours," he said.

What is Meghan Markle's show 'With Love, Meghan' about?

As per Netflix, Meghan’s new show features her "reimagining the genre of lifestyle programming” along with her celebrity friends as they roll “up their sleeves in the kitchen, the garden, and beyond, and invite you to do the same”.

The series is part of Meghan and Prince Harry’s multi-year deal with Netflix, which they signed in 2020. The eight-part lifestyle series will mark Meghan’s return to her roots, featuring hosting and entertaining tips while welcoming celebrity friends on the show.
