Taika Waititi is all for raising the stakes.
The filmmaker laid out his plans for a prospective Thor 5 after it was reported that the installment was in the works at Marvel Studios.
In Thor: Love and Thunder The Official Movie Special book, Waititi expressed his desire to have the God of Thunder face off against a deadlier villain than Hela.
"What is left to do to him? It's got to be something that feels like it's carrying on with the evolution of the character, but still in a very fun way and still giving him things to come up against that feel like they're building on the obstacles that he has to overcome," the Oscar winner mused, according to a ScreenRant transcription.
"I don't think we can have a villain that's weaker than Hela. I feel like we need to step up from there and add a villain that's somehow more formidable," he expressed.
Hela appeared in the third installment of the series, Thor: Ragnarok, as the big sister of Thor and the rightful heir to the Asgardian throne.
The Goddess of Death’s quest for power led Hemsworth’s Thor, Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, and Valkyrie, played by Tessa Thompson, to team up together alongside Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk.
An industry insider reported earlier today that Thor 5 was in development under Waititi. He previously directed Thor 3 and 4.
