Prince William was advised to "catch up" to his father King Charles

Prince William was advised to "supercharge" his royal duties in his attempts to do better than King Charles in his role as Prince of Wales.

According to royal biographer Huw Thomas, King Charles was "the most attentive" Prince of Wales and that the monarch’s heir-to-the-throne has "catching up to do".

Thomas, as per The Times, wrote a book regarding Charles: The King and Wales, stated that the current Prince of Wales will have to do a lot heavy lifting in order to change or supersede the perception that King Charles left behind.

"He's got a lot of catching up to do in terms of the public perception of him as a Prince of Wales.

"The impression I get as well is that, after the coronation, there's going to be a bit of a supercharge on the relationship of William with Wales. We'll see what comes."

"Certainly, up until Charles, there wasn't a Prince of Wales that paid anywhere near the attention that he has paid to understanding Wales and Welshness."

"Maybe now there's a focus on mental health initiatives or outdoors. It's a bit more targeted to make sure William's seen to be doing stuff that suits William," he said.

For the unversed Prince William was given the title of Prince of Wales following Queen Elizabeth II's demise in 2022, which  automatically put King Charles  on the throne.
