Kate Middleton was reportedly unaware of Paul Carberry's dark past

The head of a charity which Kate Middleton acted as royal patron was found to be a convicted murderer.

The Princess of Wales took great interest in Paul Carberry, the CEO of Action for Children, and his work in helping children with their mental health.

However, against the backdrop of his charitable work hid a secret which revealed that the charity boss had stabbed a father-to-be to death and injured another while on a train.

He was handed a sentence at Her Majesty’s Pleasure, which is "an indefinite term that can never become a spent conviction under UK law" as per Daily Star.

Having committed the crime in 1979, when he was just 17, and later completing his sentencing, he went on to secure a role in Scotland’s the Serious and Organised Crime Taskforce, with a mission to end youth gangs.

However, as per Mirror, Kate and her husband Prince William were unaware about Carberry’s past when first meeting him at a primary school a year ago.

Carberry told the publication of his regret over the murder: "Something I’ve regretted every day of my life. A family did not have their loved one because of me."
