Seth McFarlane has distanced himself from the hit animated show Family Guy in support of the ongoing writers’ strike.
The 49-year-old actor, who voices Peter Griffin, has quit the animated cartoon after 24 years, joining the list of other showrunners, Rich Appel, Brian Boyle, Matt Weitzman, and Alec Sulkin, reported via Deadline.
Sources revealed that the comedian will not be returning until a settlement is reached between the studio and the Writers Guild of America.
For the unversed, the WGA strike is the ongoing conflict between writers all over Hollywood and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) for an increase in their wages.
Over 11,000 writers have partaken in the picket line from various studios, including Netflix, Paramount, and HBO.
"There is quite a bit of runway to go before the wheels come off," an insider told the outlet.
"The animated satire has about three months of scripts, v/o, etc already completed. Then the studio will have to figure out what steps to take next."
Family Guy, which wrapped up its 21st season on May 7, has already been renewed for two more seasons by Fox in January.
The animated show follows a dysfunctional family of four in a wacky Rhode Island town, as they struggle to cope with the many crazy scenarios thrown their way.
