Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are officially making a comeback to one of Hollywood’s most iconic adventure franchises, The Mummy.
According to Deadline, Universal Pictures is reviving the beloved series, with Fraser and Weisz in talks to reprise their legendary roles from the late ’90s and early 2000s films.
While the studio has stayed silent on the plot, sources confirmed that Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the directing duo behind Scream’s reboot, will take charge of the project.
The script is being penned by David Coggeshall, known for The Family Plan and The Deliverance, while The Mummy veteran Sean Daniel joins William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein of Project X Entertainment as producers.
This reunion also marks another collaboration between Radio Silence and Project X, following their recent Scream reboot successes and their upcoming horror sequel Ready or Not: Here I Come.
Fraser and Weisz first shared the screen in The Mummy (1999) and The Mummy Returns (2001), both directed by Stephen Sommers.
The two films earned over $400 million worldwide, cementing their status as one of the most thrilling duos of their era.
