Christopher Nolan has revealed how long will the upcoming highly anticipated film, The Odyssey will be.
The film is an adaption of ancient Greek epic poem, based on King Odysseus 10-year long journey from battle of Troy to his kingdom Ithaca.
In conversation with the Associated Press, the Oscar winning director confirmed that the forthcoming hit “is shorter” than “Oppenheimer.”
“It’s an epic film, as the subject matter demands,” Nolan told the outlet. “But it is shorter.”
His previous project followed the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer and the creation of the atomic bomb during World War II, starring Cillian Murphy.
The film’s total runtime was of 180 minutes, however, the long run time couldn’t stop the movie from becoming a blockbuster with a whopping $975 million at the worldwide box office.
Given the past success, expectations for new drama are particularly sky high.
“There’s a massive amount of pressure,” the director said about his new movie. “Anyone taking on ‘The Odyssey’ is taking on the hopes and dreams of people for epic movies everywhere and that comes with a huge responsibility.”
The ensemble cast starring, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal and many more has also raised the bar of expectations.
The film will also be the first Hollywood feature film to be shot entirely with Imax cameras.
The Odyssey will be released on July 17.
