Jacob Elordi reveals surprising snake bond in ‘Euphoria’ finale

Jacob Elordi has opened up about his shocking exit from Euphoria, revealing he spent days trapped inside a coffin with a live snake for his character Nate Jacobs’ dramatic final moments.

The 28-year-old actor lifted the lid on the gruesome filming experience during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Sunday, July 20, where he chatted with his Euphoria co-star Colman Domingo.

Recalling the intense scene, Jacob explained: “I got locked in a coffin for two days straight with prosthetics and a fake tongue, and I couldn’t see out of my eyes. And then Sam put snakes into the coffin.”

While Nate’s death scene features a deadly rattlesnake, the Kissing Booth star actually filmed the terrifying sequence alongside a non-venomous boa constrictor. 

Despite the unusual co-star, he admitted the reptile was far less frightening than expected.

“He had a very nice personality,” he joked, leaving the audience laughing. “He was very docile and very sleepy.”

The Australian star even revealed he tried to encourage the snake to appear more threatening on camera, as it was supposed to create a tense moment.

“I was nudging him to get him more active because he was meant to be threatening,” he said. 

“But he was like a little dog. He just kept curling up at my feet.”

Frankenstein actor joked that Euphoria creator Sam Levinson had “brought me back to torture me”, saying filming the final season felt like weeks of being “beat by a seven-foot guy”.

Fans have followed Jacob’s portrayal of troubled teenager Nate Jacobs throughout the hit HBO drama, particularly his complicated relationships with Maddy and his father Cal Jacobs, played by Eric Dane.

Away from Euphoria, he is preparing for his next big-screen role in Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars, which arrives in cinemas on August 28.
