Selena Gomez announces break from social media after Hailey Bieber drama

Selena Gomez is taking a break from social media after the singer was involved in some drama involving Hailey Bieber.

The Lose You To Love Me singer took to TikTok in a live video and shared that she is "calling it quits" on the "silly" drama that involves her and Hailey.

"I’m very happy, I’m so blessed. I have the best friends and the best fans in the whole world and I just couldn’t be happier," she said.

"I’m good, I love the way I am, I don’t care," the musician said.

"And yeah, I’m gonna be taking a second from social media ’cause this is a little silly and I’m 30. I’m too old for this."

This comes after she jumped in to defend her friend Taylor Swift when a clip resurfaced on the app where Hailey could be seen seemingly throwing shade at Taylor by making a weird face when her album was mentioned.

In the video it could be seen that Method Man, who used to co-host the show Drop The Mic, said that there would be a rap fight with  the "meanest songs about a celebrity since Taylor Swift's last album" which prompted Hailey imitating as though she was throwing up. 

The video was accompanied the caption, "This is REAL Hailey "Bieber,"" which dubbed Hailey as a bully and a "mean girl"

Selena then proceeded to comment, "So sorry, my best friend is and continues to be one of the best in the game" which insinuated that she agreed with calling Hailey "mean". 

The drama behind Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber's relationship 

Selena's long-time ex Justin Bieber was seemingly the root of the two women's strained relationship after he had married Hailey just a few months after breaking up with Selena. 

Since then Hailey and Selena have constantly been pitted against each other in the media with a large part of the trolling being faced by the Rhode Beauty founder.  

Despite Selena consistently trying to pacify her angry fans, the two women were painted as sworn enemies by tabloids and each others' fandoms. 

However things died down for a bit when they posed for a friendly photo at the Academy Museum gala in Los Angeles in October that went insanely viral.

Selena later spoke to Vulture and said that posing for photos with Hailey were "not a big deal" and that their supposed beef with each other is "not even a thing."
