Adam Scott recalls 'traumatic' exchange with Boy Meets World costar on set

Adam Scott has narrated a rather unpleasant memory from his time in Boy Meets World involving one of his co-stars, Rider Strong.

During an appearance on Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong and Will Friedle’s podcast Pod Meets World Monday, the 49-year-old actor confronted Strong about a nagging feeling that has “literally been tugging” at him for “29 years.”

Scott, who played high school bully Griff Hawkins in the early episodes of the sitcom, revealed that all the cast and crew were celebrating and hugging each other as they wrapped up filming the last scene of Season 2.

Scott said that when he went to embrace Strong, who played the heartthrob Shawn Hunter, responded to the gesture oddly.

“I go in and hug you, and as I do that, you push me off, and you give me this look like, ‘Wait a second, who the fuck are you?’ And then you run away,” Scott shared.

In response, the trio burst out laughing coupled with their surprise.

Strong exclaimed, “Are you serious?! Why would I do that?!”

Scott went on to express his relief that Strong doesn’t remember the incident because “to some extent, that means it wasn’t a traumatic experience for you,” noting that the former was in his 20s at the time, while Scott was a young teen.

Scott said that he felt so weird about Strong’s response because “he was a little kid, and I was some stranger grown up” and was “surprised” when the show asked him back for an episode in Season 3 a few months later.
