Musician Wilko Johnson has died aged 75.

The news was announced on his official social media accounts, which noted that the late guitarist died at home on 21st November.

“This is the announcement we never wanted to make, & we do so with a very heavy heart: Wilko Johnson has died. He passed away at home on Monday 21st November,” the statement read.

“Thank you for respecting the family's privacy at this very sad time. RIP Wilko Johnson,” they added.

Johnson was diagnosed with late-stage pancreatic cancer in 2013 and was informed that he has less than a year left to live because he chose not to receive chemotherapy.

Nevertheless, the Going Back Home artist continued to fight on and ultimately broke the news that he was cancer-free after getting the 3kg tumor removed.

Real name John Peter Wilkinson, the R&B artist was born in Canvey Island, Essex, in 1947.

Besides his versatile discography, the late star also penned an autobiography titled, Looking Back at Me, with Zoe Howe in 2012.

He also guest-starred on Games of Thrones, in which he played a mute executioner, Ser Ilyn Payne.
