South Korean actor and singer, Lee Ji Ha, has succumbed to the unfortunate Halloween tragedy in Itaewon.

In a statement released on October 30, it was confirmed that South Korean artist, Lee Ji Han, was among the 150-plus people who were killed in a stampede at a Halloween celebration in Seoul.

As per Enews, 935 Entertainment, which represents Ji-han, released a statement that read, "We are sad to deliver such news today, but Lee Ji-han has passed away in the crush in Itaewon last night. We would like to express our deepest condolences to his family, who are saddened by the sudden tragic news, also to everyone who loved him."

The statement concluded, "Lee Ji-han brightly smiled when greeting us all the time. He had pure and positive energy with great passion for acting. It is very hard to believe that we cannot see him anymore. Please send your warm goodbye to Lee Ji-han. He'll always be remembered."

Ji-han was one of the partygoers who was killed during a crowd rush at the Halloween party that was held after three years due to Covid lockdown.

The 24-year-old star became known as a contestant on Produce 101 season 2, which made the boy group X1, famous.

Ji-han was going to star in K-drama, Kkokdu’s Gye Jeol, alongside Kim Jung Hyun and Im Soo Hyang. The production of the drama is halted to mourn the loss.

An estimated 100,000 people attended the event. In a narrow valley, many tried to move in different directions which caused them to lose their footing on the slope and this created a domino effect.

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has announced nationwide mourning and pledged financial and medical help to victims and their families. The president convened an emergency meeting in which he ordered a thorough investigation.
