TikTok data privacy settlement is handing out money and here's how to find out if you are eligible

TikTok users have been surprised with money credited to their PayPal and Venmos these days, and everybody has questions.

It has been notified by some users that they had received an amount of money, more specifically $27, courtesy of TikTok Data privacy settlement.

However, nobody is sure why.

Back in 2019, TikTok’s parent company known as ByteDance got hit with a class action lawsuit that alleged the violation of the user’s privacy rights by the platform under the federal Video Privacy Protection Act.

Apparently, ByteDance had been disclosing which videos had been watched by which specific person, concerning parents of the users under 13.

Last year, ByteDance agreed to a $91 million settlement, making the users from 2014 – 2021 eligible for an imminent payout.

When distributed, each TikTok user would get an amount of $27.84, while if you also created TikTok videos at that time, you will receive $167.04.

Hence, keep an eye out on your PayPal or Venmo accounts because you might get a wire transfer soon.
